About SALSAT
SALSAT (Spectrum AnaLysis SATellite) is a microsatellite of the Technical University of Berlin, launched on 28 September 2020 on a Soyuz-2.1b/Fregat rocket from Plesetsk. It is built on TU Berlin's TUBiX10 platform from a flight spare of the S-Net mission, a cube of about 24 cm weighing 11.5 kg.
Its main payload, the SALSA spectrum analyser, records how radio frequencies are actually used as seen from orbit, including the amateur bands. The data are used to build global maps of spectrum use and to find harmful interference, and the work supports ITU study groups on small-satellite spectrum.
SALSAT sends telemetry on 435.950 MHz using 1200 and 2400 baud AFSK, which a simple 70 cm receiver and soundcard software can decode. The same frequency was later coordinated for TU Berlin's OOV-Cube.

Questions about SALSAT
- What is the SALSAT downlink frequency?
- SALSAT transmits on 435.950 MHz (AFSK TUBiX10 1k2).
- Is SALSAT active?
- Listed as working, but nobody reported hearing SALSAT on AMSAT in the last 30 days.
- When does SALSAT pass over my location?
- Open SALSAT on the live map and enter your Maidenhead locator or use GPS: the tracker lists the passes of the next 24 hours with AOS, maximum elevation and LOS, and shifts the frequencies for Doppler.
