About NO-44

NO-44 (PCSat) was built by midshipmen of the US Naval Academy under Bob Bruninga, WB4APR, the creator of APRS. It was launched on 30 September 2001 on an Athena I rocket from Kodiak, Alaska.

PCSat is an APRS digipeater on 2 m at 1200 baud: stations send position reports and short messages through it, and other stations and internet gateways pick them up. Its batteries failed long ago, so it works only in full sunlight when its panels face the Sun. It can only be heard on some sunlit passes, and in recent years reports have been rare.
