About GO-32
GO-32 (Gurwin-OSCAR 32), also called Techsat-1B, is a microsatellite built by students of the Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. Its predecessor Techsat-1 was lost in 1995 on the failed first flight of the Russian Start rocket; the replacement was launched on 10 July 1998 as a secondary payload on a Zenit-2 rocket from Baikonur.
The 48 kg satellite was a cube about 45 cm on a side, with a UV radiometer and an imaging camera. For radio amateurs it carried a digital store-and-forward system compatible with the systems already used on amateur microsatellites of the time, which let stations upload messages to the satellite and collect them later.
GO-32 worked for more than eleven years, much longer than its one-year design life. In March 2010 its degraded solar panels could no longer support normal operation, and the Technion ended the mission. It remains in an orbit of about 810 km.
