About CO-57

CO-57 (CubeSat XI-IV) from the University of Tokyo was one of the first CubeSats ever launched, on 30 June 2003 on a Rockot rocket from Plesetsk, together with CUTE-1 (CO-55) from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

More than twenty years later its CW beacon on 70 cm is still heard, which makes it one of the longest-lived CubeSats. Its success helped show that small satellites built by students can last for years, and opened the way for the thousands of CubeSats launched since.
