About MO-122

MO-122 (MESAT1-OSCAR 122), launched as MESAT1, was Maine's first satellite: a 3U CubeSat built by the University of Maine, carrying science payloads designed by students of Falmouth High School, Fryeburg Academy and Saco Middle School. It was selected by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative and launched on 4 July 2024 on a Firefly Alpha rocket from Vandenberg.

For radio amateurs it carried AMSAT's LTM-1 module, a 30 kHz wide V/u linear transponder that also handled telemetry and commanding: uplink 145.910–145.940 MHz LSB, downlink 435.810–435.840 MHz USB, with 1200 bps BPSK telemetry just below the passband. By early October 2024 the satellite had been commissioned with the transponder active, and AMSAT gave it its OSCAR number on 2 October 2024.

MO-122 was a short-lived satellite: AMSAT's list of inoperative satellites gives its last telemetry as 25 August 2025, and the AMSAT News Service declared the end of its mission in March 2026.
