About CAS-3H
LilacSat-2, also called CAS-3H, was built by students of the Harbin Institute of Technology and launched on 19 September 2015 on the first flight of China's Long March 6 rocket from Taiyuan, together with the XW-2 amateur satellites. The 11 kg satellite uses the callsign BJ1SI. Its radio is a software-defined transceiver that can work as an FM repeater or an APRS digipeater, and it also carries a CW beacon and a 9600 bps telemetry downlink.
The FM repeater listens on 144.350 MHz and transmits on 437.200 MHz; AMSAT's FM summary of July 2026 lists no CTCSS tone and says the repeater has no set schedule. When it is off, the same downlink frequency carries a telemetry beacon. In July 2016 the team also tested a 40 kHz wide non-inverting linear transponder (uplink 144.3425–144.3825 MHz, downlink 437.180–437.220 MHz), which doubles the Doppler shift compared with inverting transponders.
LilacSat-2 was planned for a mission of three to six months and was still listed in AMSAT's FM summary in July 2026. Its orbit has decayed to about 400 km (CelesTrak, October 2026).
