About CAS-2T

CAS-2T is a 2U CubeSat of CAMSAT, the Chinese amateur satellite group, built as a technical test for its CAS-2 series of amateur satellites with secondary school pupils from Beijing's Fengtai, Xicheng and Haidian districts. It was launched on 9 November 2016 on the second flight of the Long March 11 rocket from Jiuquan. CAS-2T and a second small payload, KS-1Q of the Kechuang Aerospace Forum, were designed to stay attached to the rocket's upper stage, which is why the catalogue lists them as one object.

The upper stage was expected to re-enter within about a month, but it reached an orbit of about 500 by 1,000 km and has stayed up for years. CAS-2T carried a CW telemetry beacon on 435.710 MHz and an FM transponder with its uplink on 145.925 MHz and downlink on 435.615 MHz; early measurements by radio amateurs suggested that the transponder was not fully working. KS-1Q transmitted 20 kbps GMSK telemetry on 436.500 MHz.
